Residential Design Portfolio

Our residential designs are driven by passion, art and a new way of seeing.

We develop concepts that flow organically into function, allowing natural light, spatial dynamics and physical materials to champion our designs.

Working with all materials, across all landscapes, together we push the limits of creativity and create achievable concept designs that break the constraints of tradition

Langman Lane

Cedar cladding and band-sawn posts feature outside – with a plywood kitchen and solid timber bench tops carrying the coastal Balinese theme through to the interior. Transforming this once 1970’s farm cottage to what it proudly represents today.

Jacks Point House

This large house is situated on a promontory overlooking Lake Wakatipu to the west, with the Remarkables to the east and Peninsula Hill to the north – hiding Coronet Peak.

Franklin Road House

The external design of the building deliberately references back to the original dwelling, through the use of material and detail with out replicating what was. However, the interior is more reflective of a modern city apartment – clean lines, open spaces, painted walls and ceilings, polished concrete and timber floors.

Perspective Apartments

Seven individual buildings, placed around an internal courtyard, consisting of 86 residential apartments over four levels, plus two levels of under ground parking. The focus is on flexibility, spaciousness, and serenity.

Oparau Cottage

This home started off as a modest cottage – a fairly conventional rectangular house. Over a 3 stage process, HB Architecture created a relaxed holiday home for the owners to host family and friends.
